What Happens in Vegas...

The boys in my family have gone on numerous trips to see the Utes and Gators play and even have football trips planned to Michigan and Florida in the coming month.  So, I felt it was time for a girl's trip and I know we deserve a little R&R.  My sister, Jillesha, and 2 sisters-in-law, Heather and Erin, were able to join me for our "Livin' on the Edge" theme adventure.

The first day we slept in until 9:00.  I forgot what it felt like to get some good, uninterrupted sleep.  Heather and I spent the morning killing time while the other 2 enjoyed their extended beauty sleep.  Heather and I ate breakfast, played slot machines (lost $5) and saw the new Batman movie.  We joined Leash and Erin for some shopping, dinner and illegal photos.  "No Photos Allowed" signs were posted throughout the hat store but we were livin' on the edge, as you can see below.

Enjoying dinner at Cheeseburger Las Vegas Restaurant - yummy food.

To cap off the evening we saw The Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian.  Loved it!

The next morning Erin and I attempted to exercise but were caught in a rainstorm.  We partook in the breakfast buffet and  soaked up rays at the pool.

Spent the afternoon getting pedicures - don't they look nice.  Although, we had an immediate casualty once we got in the car.  Nail polish and a brake pedal do not make a great combination.

That evening we shopped at H&M, ate at The Cheesecake Factory and were mesmerized by the strength of Cirque de Soleil performers.

The trip was going smoothly until the morning of our departure.  We got up with our 6:00 a.m. wake up call for our 7:50 flight.  We arrived at the airport with plenty of time but were overcharged for our rental car and asked to report to the service desk.  The representative behind the Budget desk moved like molasses.  Once we arrived to print off our boarding passes we were 2 minutes too late.  What happens in Vegas apparently has a hard time getting out of Vegas.  Unbeknown to us, Las Vegas Airport has a 45 minute cut off window and if you do not arrive 45 minutes prior to your departure their computers lock down and are unable to access any flight information.  After pleading and shedding tears we faced the reality that were not flying home.  You can see we were less than thrilled.
Our perfect Vegas vacation has just become a perfect road trip!  After arguing with Budget about making us late for our departure they offered a discounted price to rent a car and drive back to Salt Lake.  The time went by fast with hormonal Heather (she's pregnant) behind the wheel.  Her days of living in D.C. has made her a crazy driver and we were able to get home in less than 5 1/2 hours.  We had a few mishaps throughout our vacation - chipped toenails, narrowly missing the valet men, exploding root beer and watching our plane take off without us but I would not change a thing and I am looking forward to the next Girl's Trip!
