Once the temperatures hit the teens and the arctic wind arrived, we decided to escape the cold and head south for the warmer weather. We loaded the swagger wagon and took off in the night, although we didn't get very far before the first child had to go to the bathroom. A normally 4 hour drive took us 5 1/2 hours thanks to thirsty kids and small bladders. Our destination was the southern desert of Utah. We hiked the red rocks, swam in the pool, rode scooters on trails and visited Hoover Dam. It was the best dam tour I have ever been on!

At Hoover Dam we went on the power plant tour where we descended 500 feet in an elevator to get an up close look at the power plant generators and stand atop a 30-foot pipe where you can feel the Colorado River racing through it. Since it was nap time, Timmy was not enjoying the dam tour, as evidenced in the pictures.
Behind us is the newly constructed Memorial Bridge that is located 900 feet above the Colorado River. Will was a little nervous we were going to fall overboard.
It was a nice little getaway but all good things come to an end.
